Self-serve car wash · retrofit

Modernize self-serve payments without rebuilding the wash.

Retrofit existing self-serve equipment with Rain Pay terminals, Stormbox controllers, and MonsoonOSsoftware: unattended payments, remote starts, subscriptions, app workflows, and operator reporting — without forcing a full rip-and-replace.

Keep the wash, upgrade the payments

Upgrade payments, keep your equipment.

Your bays, timers, and plumbing stay. Rain Pay and Stormbox replace or supplement coin boxes and legacy card readers so you can take modern payments and start compatible equipment — a retrofit installation instead of a rebuild.

  • Existing timers stay in place where compatible
  • Replace or supplement coin-op and legacy readers
  • Relay-based bays connect through Stormbox where compatible
  • Retrofit installation, not a rebuild
  • Card and app payments at every bay
  • One platform across bays, vacuums, and vending

Built for practical retrofit projects

Retrofit where it makes sense.

Not every site or machine is the same, and we do not claim universal compatibility. We look at your equipment and recommend a retrofit path only where it is a practical fit — and say so when it is not.

Why self-serve operators use it
  • Less rip-and-replace
  • Better visibility across bays and sites
  • More modern payment options
  • Recurring revenue opportunities
  • Easier operator management
What we need to evaluate your site

A few details to check the fit.

  1. 1

    Current timer / payment setup

What you run today at the bay: coin boxes, tokens, or a legacy card reader.

  2. 2

    Number of bays or machines

How many bays, vacuums, or machines you are looking to modernize.

  3. 3

    Whether equipment is relay-based

Whether your equipment can be started through a compatible control signal.

  4. 4

    Photos, later in the process

Photos of the existing payment and timer area, if helpful later in the sales process.

Common questions

Self-serve car wash FAQs.

What operators ask most when they are weighing a retrofit against a rebuild.

Do I have to replace my timers?
Not necessarily. Stormbox controllers are designed for retrofit environments and connect to compatible timers and relay-based workflows. Whether your specific timer is a fit is evaluated before any quote.
Can this work with older equipment?
Often, where the equipment can be started through a compatible control signal. Because every site has different wiring and equipment, compatibility is implementation-dependent and confirmed during discovery.
Can this support vacuums?
Yes. Operators run Rain Pay at vacuum stations alongside self-serve bays on the same platform, subject to the same compatibility evaluation as other equipment.
Can I manage multiple sites?
Yes. MonsoonOS supports multi-location operations with per-location reporting and employee access, so you can manage several self-serve sites from one admin.
Can I still support walk-up customers?
Yes. Rain Pay terminals take card and app payments at the bay with no app download required, so walk-up customers can pay and start a wash directly.
